Why I love my job: I love working in an environment with like-minded educators who believe that learning challenges are differences, not disabilities. I’m proud to work in an educational environment where teachers don't question why a student may need information presented in a different way or a particular accommodation.
Why I chose my profession: I struggled as a student, but it never really showed because I was able to fly under the radar. I wish I had spoken up more and pushed for help because I now know it wasn't something wrong with me; it was that I, too, needed to be taught differently. I became a school psychologist to help students going through similar experiences.
What drew me to Lawrence: I was excited to work in an environment where the other educators shared my beliefs, providing students the opportunities they needed to show their true potential.
Spotted off-campus: I try to get outside as much as possible and enjoy hiking in the Metroparks or taking my kids to the playground. Most of the time, however, I'm home playing in my yard and garden with my kids or taking them for ice cream.
