Ms. Julie Cummings
Lower School Teacher
B.S. Ursuline College
M.A. John Carroll University
What drew me to Lawrence: Lawrence allows me the opportunity to be the kind of teacher I have always dreamed of being. It’s humbling to watch students grow and transform. They truly show you what is possible with determination and the right support. I often find myself leaving school with a smile.
Favorite subject to teach: Teaching math is my favorite. I get to see the lightbulb moment as students learn new concepts. It is so much fun for me to witness that.
An accomplishment I’m proud of: I won the Jewish Education Center of Cleveland’s Early Childhood Educator of the Year award in 2018.
Why I chose my profession: I didn't love school as a child. I was quiet and shy. I got lost in the shuffle. I never wanted a child to feel that way. I have always wanted to be a teacher and create an environment of kindness and respect where my students feel safe to make mistakes.
