Mrs. Ellen Paterson
Lower School Teacher
B.S. Malone University
What drew me to Lawrence: Lawrence felt like it would be the place where I could teach with my heart and do what is needed for students to achieve their goals.
Favorite part of the day: Each day has little moments that make my heart happy, but one of the best is reading aloud to students. When time permits, I have the opportunity to read high-interest books to the kids, and I love how engaged they are.
Favorite subject to teach: Reading and math. I love the adventures you can go on while reading a book. As for math, I love teaching in a way where students feel and become successful in solving various types of problems.
Spotted off-campus: I enjoy working out, baking and cooking, going for walks with my family, and, when possible, spending time with extended family, neighbors, and friends. I also have two daughters, so usually, we're keeping up with them or working on projects in our house.
