Lawrence School, 2012
B.A. Capital University, 2016

Since graduating from Lawrence, what have you been up to?

After high school, I attended Capital University in Columbus and was initially interested in nursing. However, once I started taking classes, I felt drawn more and more to health care administration and changed my focus. It turned out to be the right choice because just two days after I graduated, I began a career with CoverMyMeds.

At the time, CoverMyMeds was a startup software company working with patients, physicians, and pharmacies on prior authorization—essentially providing medication access. We still do that, but we’ve grown a ton, and I love it! I’ve traveled all over the country, holding on-site training for medical professionals, and now I’m a pharmaceutical account manager, tasked with building relationships with our larger partners.

Outside of work, one of my biggest milestones was getting married last year! The pandemic changed a lot, but my husband and I still wanted to get married on our original date. We had a small ceremony at Frank Fetch Park near our house in Columbus. It was very relaxed—I ordered my flowers from Trader Joe’s and we had pizza for dinner—it was a lot of fun.

What were some of your favorite places to travel for work?

If not for work I’d have probably never gone to Minnesota, but we had a client in Minneapolis. It’s such a cool place. Downtown has some great restaurants and is a lot of fun. Boston is awesome, too. I had a client in Beverly Hills, which was nice. Bend, Oregon and Charleston, South Carolina were also beautiful.

How did Lawrence prepare you for college and your career?

When I was younger, I’d get frustrated in the classroom. I remember asking my mom, “How am I not understanding things? I’m trying.” Then I came to Lawrence as a freshman, and my school experience did a complete 180. I realized everyone learns and works differently, and everything started to click. Moving into my career, I’ve kept that same mindset. It’s all about creating something that fits you, and I’ve found a company that lets you not only work how you want, but how you work best.

Another thing that’s helped me is learning to schedule my time. At Lawrence, we broke down every subject and class and listed everything we had to do. I still do something similar at work. I use a note on my computer, and it’s my daily to-do list, checking off everything to make sure it all gets done.

What was your favorite class at Lawrence?

I enjoyed art and having that outlet was great. It’s something I’ve continued with as I’ve gotten older. For the last few years, my parents and I have flipped old houses, turning them into Airbnbs, and I’ve done a few art projects for the rentals.

Tell us more about the Airbnb experience.

My parents purchased a lake house near Cleveland several years ago and someone asked them if they could rent it. That got the wheels turning, and we looked into Airbnb. People were booking like crazy in the area, so we purchased another property and it’s taken off from there.

My husband and I have even rented out our own home. We take down all our pictures and knick-knacks, and people come to stay. It can be a lot of work, but we’ve found it’s more profitable than long-term rentals and fun, too. We recently closed on our first rental property in German Village, which will also be listed on Airbnb.

What is your favorite memory of Lawrence?

I played basketball and loved being part of the team. All the girls were close, and we had great relationships with our coaches, Mrs. Sternad and Ms. Siegel before she sadly passed away. It wasn’t as much about winning as it was about those connections—some of which still exist. A former teammate is one of my best friends and was in my wedding. It’s been an almost lifelong relationship.

What piece of advice would you share with Lawrence students?

Be open to different learning styles and figuring out who you are while you’re in school. People’s backgrounds won’t always be the same, so be accepting of everyone you encounter.

How do you spend your free time?

When we aren’t working on the Airbnbs, my husband and I love going to the parks, especially with our dog, Banksy. My parents recently adopted his sister, and they have so much fun when they’re together. When we can, we love to travel. New York City and Florida are some of our favorite destinations. We’re also excited to celebrate our first anniversary and are planning another ceremony with all our friends and family this summer.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

My husband just started his own company, so hopefully that continues to do well, and maybe by then we’ll have kids. It’s a simple answer, but I just hope my family will be happy and healthy.
