As part of this year's Upper School Dear Martin project, the writing of faculty, staff, and students took flight through a cross-curricular collaboration.
Throughout January, English classes examined and interpreted quotes by Dr. Martin Luther King and Maya Angelou. Each contributor chose an excerpt from their own written analyses of these words to feature on an illustrated feather. The unique pieces were compiled and presented as a winged art installation. Conceptualized by art teacher Ms. Hall and inspired by Kelsey Montague’s #Whatliftsyou mural in Nashville, this creative hallway scene has become everyone's favorite photo op.
Lawrence faculty were inspired to create the annual Dear Martin project after reading Nic Stone’s novel of the same name. This year's final product is brought to you by teachers: Joy Hall, Colleen Hotz, Rama Janamanchi, Hannah Morgan, and Jeanne Sims.
