Tutoring Services for Dyslexia and Other Learning Differences

Our multisensory tutoring techniques are rooted in Orton-Gillingham principles and complement common school interventions, such as: The Wilson Reading System. Students in grades K–6 from all over Northeast Ohio attend weeknight and weekend sessions for reading, writing, or math at our convenient Broadview Heights location.

“My son began third grade with his teachers very concerned about his reading progress. After a few months of Schafer Center tutoring, he scored ABOVE where he needed to be for the year (and it isn't yet over). As a teacher myself, I appreciate how they constantly evaluate and work on the specific individual skills a student needs. I can't say enough about the difference these tutoring sessions have made.”

Conveniently located between Cleveland and Akron, we work with students who have IEPs and/or a diagnosed learning difference, including dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia—as well as those who just need a little extra academic support.

Reading tutoring includes multisensory structured literacy lessons, based on phonological-coding research and OG principles, which systematically teach the structure of the English language. If your child is currently on an IEP and receiving interventions, such as The Wilson Reading Program or Barton Reading and Spelling System, we can reinforce those teachings and help close the achievement gap more quickly.

We also offer multisensory math sessions with an emphasis on computation and reasoning.

Additionally, we can customize our specific tutoring techniques based on a student’s IEP goals.

One-on-one tutoring sessions are 60 minutes in length and may take place once or twice per week. Our services include the regular monitoring of academic progress and we frequently supply feedback to parents. Virtual tutoring is also available.

Cost & Availability:

  • Tuesday and Thursday sessions: $75/hour
  • Virtual sessions: $75/hour
  • Saturday sessions: $85/hour

By using a pay-as-you-go model, we provide families with flexibility and do not require a commitment to a certain number of sessions.

Please give us some information about your child and their tutoring needs. A Schafer Center representative will contact you to discuss how we can help.
