Winter dress code at Lower School is in effect now through spring break. Shorts and sandals are not permitted. Our snow enthusiasts (kids who love recess even when it’s a winter wonderland) are only able to play in the snow when outfitted with a winter coat, hat, gloves/mittens, snow pants, and boots. If your child wears Crocs to school, please be sure they have boots or tennis shoes to change into for outside activity.
Our cold weather guidelines for activity time are as follows:
- 40 degrees or below: Coat required
- 10- to 15-degree wind chill: Snow enthusiasts only (students may opt in to be a snow enthusiast or choose to stay inside when the windchill is between 10-15 degrees)
- 15-degree wind chill or below: Indoor activity
School Cancellations
Before the snow falls, we want to remind you that when school needs to be called for extreme weather, we will send out a text and voicemail at the earliest possible time in the morning.
As we travel from far and wide to get to Lawrence, we understand that some areas are more affected than others by winter storms. Please make a choice that is best for the safety of your family on these winter mornings. We understand when families are unable to make it to school because of weather.
Please also know that we take into consideration the long distances families travel and the safety of our community in deciding to call a snow day.
