Matthew Goldman is general counsel for Morino Ventures. Prior to that, he was a partner at BakerHostetler, a Cleveland-headquartered law firm, before retiring at the end of 2022. Matthew has served as lead counsel for debtors, trustees, creditors’ committees, and purchasers in the bankruptcy, restructure, and liquidation of large and middle-market companies across the country.
Working at the forefront of the efforts to reform and advance the bankruptcy profession, Matthew has appeared in most of the country’s major bankruptcy cases over the past three decades. He has also specialized in representing non-profit entities facing financial challenges. Additionally, Matthew is an adjunct professor at Cleveland State University’s Monte Ahuja Business College.
He earned his J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and his B.A. from the State University of New York at Buffalo, graduating magna cum laude.
Matthew joins the Lawrence School Board of Trustees with excitement and a proven passion for serving his community. He previously chaired the O'Neill Advisory Committee, was a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association's Executive Committee, and served as the Section Chair of the Bankruptcy Section of the Bar from 2006-07.
