Mrs. Perillo
Meet The Teacher

Name: Mrs. Dusty Perillo

Teaches: Lower School

Years at Lawrence: 7 as of Jan. 2006

Favorite thing about Lawrence:"I love watching the children in my class grow and successfully reach goals they never thought they would! Students tend to need a lot of encouragement and support, so I also appreciate hearing parents say that their child is happy to be in my class and loves coming to school."

Upper School Parent-Teacher Conferences Next Week

Congratulations, Olympians!

Mr. Havel, Miss Micaletti and Mr. Nist held a "Greek Olympics" for students in grades 7-8. Students participated in a foot race, ball toss, accuracy throw, poem-writing contest, art appreciation, and theater improv. Participants also wrote a pledge to their country, composed a chant, and designed team flags.  All four teams worked hard, but the Gold Medal winner was Magara. Congrats to Cedric, Will, Shelby, Patrick, Brandon, Kyle!

Subway Sandwich Orders

Starting next week, Lower School students will be able to purchase Subway sandwiches for lunch on Thursday. 3" subs are $3 and 6" subs are $6. Money is due to homeroom teachers on Tuesdays.

Upper School Class Trip Fundraiser

Students in Grades 7-12 are selling Root candles to help defray the cost of their class trips. Each individual student's profits will count towards their own class trip expenses.

Columbus Children's Theater Writing Contest

On Mon., Oct. 31, Lower School students will hear a presentation from the Columbus Children's Theater on this year's student writing contest. Students will be encouraged to demonstrate their creativity by writing a short play on the subject, "A Funny Thing Happened..." For more info call Pat Feith at x1124.

Upper School Parent-Teacher Conferences

Upper School parent-teacher conferences are next Tues. Nov. 1, and Thurs. Nov. 3, from 3-7 pm. Parents are invited to join us in Rm. 311 for coffee, snacks and socialization during this time.

Attention, 8th Grade Parents

Parents of 8th graders are encouraged to hear more about our High School program and the academic, extracurricular, and college placement services offered at the 9-12 grade levels. A session will be held on Mon. Nov. 7, at 7 pm. RSVP to Jeff Petrulis: x2212 or jpetrulis@lawrence.pvt.k12.oh.us.

Bully-Free Zone!

On Fri., Nov. 4, Lower School students will attend a "Bully-Free" assembly. Special guest Chris Dixon will use magic and comedy to help students learn more about this important topic.

Junior/Senior Prom Planning

Plans are in the works for the first Lawrence School prom and after-prom, but we need parent ideas and involvement to make the event a reality. Please join us at one of the following meetings on Tues., Nov. 8, in the VIP Association workroom: 8 am for a special prom/after-prom meeting, or 7 pm during our regularly scheduled Upper School VIP Meeting.

I.D.E.I.A. Informational Session

The Learning Disabilities Association is hosting a free session on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2005, and how I.D.E.I.A. pertains to learning disabled students. While most of the subject matter is applicable to pubic school students, this is a great opportunity to network with other families outside of Lawrence. Tues. Nov. 1 from 7-9 pm at the LDA office on Rockside Rd. in Independence. To RSVP and for more information, call 216-642-8512 or e-mail ldacc@sbcglobal.net.
Head Notes
Believe it or not , it is already time to begin planning for our springtime Passport Benefit Auction! We hope you will plan to join us on April 1.

The evening includes dinner, entertainment, and many amazing items - from small-ticket items such as jewelry and event tickets to premium items such as autographed sports memorabilia and vacation spots - available for bidding in our silent and live auction events. Truly something to fit every budget and interest!

As you are aware, the cost of our tuition does not cover all of the school's operating expenses, so this parent-driven fundraiser provides a fun and affordable way to ensure that our children continue to thrive in the best educational environment possible.

For more information, or to join the parent Passport committee, please call Rebecca Hamilton at x3107.
