Students who attend Lawrence generally share a history of a lack of
success in school.
For some, a specific learning disability, such as dyslexia, caused school to be difficult. For others, attention
difficulties, organization problems, anxiety, or memory problems created poor outcomes. Each of our students is
different from every other one. With testing and keen observation, we can identify the reasons WHY each student
has had difficulty.
Lawrence has created a comprehensive 1-12 grade curriculum and supporting program to assure that students who need a
complete educational continuum will receive it. For many students, especially those who enroll at Lawrence early
in their educational careers, a stay of 2-3 years provides the remediation and learning strategies which will allow
them to return to mainstream classrooms and achieve success. Other students may be better served by remaining at
Lawrence through high school.
Understanding that each student and each family brings a unique set of circumstances to Lawrence, the staff works
with each family to achieve an optimum outcome for each student.
Lawrence will accept students at any point during the academic year and at any grade level if we are convinced
that we can be a partner in creating success for the student. While we understand that many children may struggle with additional issues (emotional, social, etc.), we are unable to accept students for whom the lead
diagnosis is something other than a learning or attention difference. |
